i like the way the bird in the cage is slightly to the left, to represent her heart.
right?

I love the simplicity of it. How you used just a few lines to create such a beautiful concept :clap:

I actually rather prefer this to the finished color version. Something about the composition here is more flowing and I love the emphasis on lines and form. It really brings attention to the bony type structure of the bird ribcage.

I agree. there's always something about sketchwork that has more character than finished art. I dont know why it is, that it kind of gets lost in translation. I see that with other artists too >_<;

I know it happens with me sometimes because I can get more flow and subtlety out of a pencil line than after it's been 'hardened' with ink or heavy color.

I think in the case of this sketch, it's just the fact so much is obscured in the final version. We see more of her body in the sketch and there's just more flow compositionally with the diagonals of the skirt and her arm and the key placements of the birds.

Would it by any chance be possible for me to get permission to use this for practice? I've just started using Painter, and I really would like to make my own interpretation of this. It's amazing ^^

I wish I had been able to make background as romantic as yours, and a bit more patience

Nice! I love how you did the birds on it--and your choice of colors. How long have you been working with photoshop?

Thank you very much. Hearing that from someone so talented is very flattering. I only just made the background in Photoshop, because Painter took forever to paint with big brushes. I've has Photoshop for a few years, but this is the third time I use Painter, so I'm still very, very new to it (which explains why the skirt looks so flat ò_ó;)

Lol, oh, just asking :D I dont used painter, I use photoshop for everything. See-I have a pc and it dosn't work well with painter AT ALL :D So I make due with what I have by use of textured brushes :D

Oh? I remember trying Painter on Windows, and it was a mess, yeah.. But I think they may have fixed some of the errors.. I had some issues with managing my brushes because I'm extremely distrete. It's easier with painter.. I think you ought to give it a try again, just to see if they've fixed the errors.. I'm very fascinated with your amazing talent.

Oh you should have seen the earlier versions of the painting. It looked like something Disney threw up. I was like "eeehhh...NO!" then I went all emo on it, kind of sorta.
