Son of Odin by BeaGifted Son of Odin by BeaGifted
Beagifted.com

Illustration I did for January's monthly collectable for Gaiaonline.com. I haven't been posting the Illustrations I've done for this for a while, mostly because I try to edit them in a way that they work as a standalone-- since all of them have wide open or white spaces where text is supposed to go. More to come soon!

credit- used some stock patterns and brushes for the Viking patterns.

Awesome composition, action flow and character expressions. Also love the details that are so descriptive of Norse culture  I'd only have a question, are the 2 characters reinterpreted from "real" Norse gods or are they OCs? I'd really like to know which gods they depict/ are inspired by.

Hello Penstray!
Thank you for your compliments. These two are OC's for a set of character designs I did for Gaiaonline.com. The girl is a descendant of Valkyrie's and the man in the back is the Son of Odin.  basically a rough idea of it is, it's a new generation of the God's, only this time, more human :) In my mind, they're kind of caught between an age where the God's are regarded as myth, but they both exude extraordinary talents, beyond what any normal human is capable of.  If this were a real, full-fledged story, I would imagine that in it, they both find the truth in their own origin, that their lineage is tied directly to what everyone regards as myth in their time.

Entirely my pleasure Bea, I really enjoy your works as a whole and this one in particular. Thank you also for the details, apart from the fact that I really like the illustration I also love now the story. I mean it's awesome to see artist's interpretations of mythical figures, but what's the most wonderful is seeing new characters inspired by mythology, connected with it but something new (well, as new as ideas can be nowadays, after millenniums of human creativity) Not to mention I find the whole idea of new, never-before-heard-off offspring of gods and mythical figures very interesting, it would surely make for an awesome larger project. I'd say keep that idea close at hand if you like it, you never know what may inspire you to make. I for one I'm a sucker for anything Norse-related and I'd definitely be a follower of such a project.

Not a comic-- just the title of the theme I was working with.
